The transformative energy from this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio during Taurus Season is an invitation to deepen into desires by shedding external expectations – What are some of your deepest desires? How can you feel more comfortable owning those desires?

The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio takes place on May 5, 2023, at ~1:33 pm ET in the element of Water.

Lunar eclipses historically have been seen as markers of significant beginnings and endings. Eclipses, in general, can be intense and transformative, and this Scorpio lunar eclipse is no different. This lunar eclipse invites us to connect deeply with our true desires by shedding external expectations. This lunation may feel like a permission slip to obtain and enjoy our deepest desires with less resistance than ever before.

Note: Some prefer to rest rather than engage in ritual during eclipses – so if you’re feeling exhausted or hesitant, no pressure! As always with these reflections and rituals, they are just suggestions – take what you like and leave the rest. Or allow yourself space for rest and integration instead!

Full moons are the energetic peaks of each lunar cycle, giving us an extra boost of energy and a chance to reflect on the momentum we’ve been building around our new moon intentions. Full moons are also a great time for cleaning and clearing energy and reflecting on what has and hasn’t been working for us. These lunations may illuminate subconscious feelings and unexpressed needs.

While we explore the desires we have for our communities and for our world at large, it is equally important for us to ask ourselves what we desire for ourselves as individuals. Scorpio encourages us to make friends with our psyche and bring to light what matters most.

Deepening into Desires by Shedding External Expectations

Scorpio, symbolized by The Scorpion and ruled by The Death card in tarot, understands the value of tapping into your desires, embracing depth, and uncovering hidden truths.

Scorpio finds what is considered “taboo” to be intriguing, such as unique expressions of sexuality or the unexplored caverns of psychology. The Scorpion encourages transformation, and one of the most transformative acts we can take is that of owning up to what it is we truly desire rather than what we think is most appropriate or attainable based on external expectations.

Imagine the potential freedom and healthy satisfaction we could experience if we let go of the “shoulds” and let ourselves deepen into our desires. On a personal level, what does this look like for you? Perhaps you’ve been wanting more for yourself in your career, relationships, or alone time. Perhaps there are some unmet needs that you haven’t given yourself the space to express, explore, or take care of.

With all this said, it’s essential for us to honor and embrace what comes up for us with this lunation. This full moon lunar eclipse is an invitation to feel, give ourselves permission to be honest with ourselves, and want what we want. With all full moons, remember to ground yourself and, if you feel called to, engage in forms of healthy self-expression to release what’s been suppressed.

Prompts for Expansion

Here are some prompts to pull cards for or journal about (or both!) to help you reflect with this full moon lunar eclipse.

No matter how your personal astrology interacts with these signs, it's a good time to reflect on these themes of deepening into your desires, shedding external expectations, and embracing transformation.

  • Being completely honest with myself, without judgment, what are some of my deepest desires?
  • What do I feel is blocking me from having what I deeply desire?
  • What needs to happen for me to obtain what I desire? How much of this reasoning is true, and how much of it comes from fear or expectation?
  • How can I feel more comfortable with owning my desires?
  • What needs to be felt and expressed at this time?

As always, take your time answering and reflecting upon these questions – you can revisit them throughout the year and beyond this full moon.

Part of owning, exploring, and expressing parts of ourselves involves finding communities where we feel safe to be and breathe. Exploring cycles, reproductive health, astrology, herbalism, and the like might be “taboo” to some. However, in our Cyclical Community, we embrace these topics daily!

Cyclical Community is an intentional community space where we can all come together on our journeys of inner healing & cycle awareness to support one another and grow our collective empowerment. We invite you to explore your interests and connect with like-minded folks in ways that traditional platforms don’t hold space for.

Within our community, on May 9th we are hosting our first virtual share & reflection circle! These share circles are safe spaces for us to journal together, reflect, and share in community ❤.

All share circle sessions will take place live on Zoom and will not be recorded to maintain a safe and present space for everyone who attends. Check out our latest YouTube video for a preview of what these circles will look and feel like.

We hope to connect with you soon, and we hope this full moon lunar eclipse gently opens up doors for your greater satisfaction <3

With Gratitude,
