Purpose & Intent

Cycles Journal helps you get out of your head, into your body & record all of your findings onto paper. It's a grounding, healing tool to help guide you in understanding your unique patterns and cyclical nature better.

It enables you to predict dates that are usually harder emotionally or physically, plan around them, and notice if moods are re-occuring during certain times. It assists you in noticing when something seems irregular, provides you with space to write and release—and helps you avoid overdoing it during sensitive times.

Cycles Journal is a safe space for anyone who wants to do the following;

This journal & planner allows you to track and orient towards inner & outer cycles such as the lunar cycle, menstrual cycle & other bodily symptoms. It helps you follow the patterns and changes within your physical, mental, emotional & spiritual health and symptoms. It includes references to menstruation & estrogen-driven reproductive systems, but it is suitable and intended for all who feel called to track their symptoms & take a closer look at their own cycles.

Absolutely! If you are in your menstrual years, you have a cycle and experience hormonal fluctuations and other influences of flow—even if it’s not standard or you don’t see blood monthly. While it revolves around a focus on the menstrual cycle, it is not discriminatory about how your cycle shows up, even if that means it doesn’t.

There is still so much wisdom & empowerment to uncover no matter what your cycle looks or feels like.

Even if your cycle is non-existent or irregular, this journal can assist you to track and/or work to find your inner patterns even amidst irregular cycling. In the journal, there is guidance on how to use the moon as a tracking point when your period is not prominent or consistent enough to figure out which phase you are in. There are symptoms listed as a starting point for your tracking, and they will be relevant for most individuals, but there are also blank spots for you to add your own.

Yes! There is a space to track your temperature each day, as well as your cervical fluid, sexual activity, and other relevant symptoms. Many in our community use it as their natural birth control companion, or in tandem with other tools.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ips

This journal has many references to the menstrual stage of life, it can still be used as a planner, calendar, symptom-tracker, journal, moon-tracker, ritual kit & more to track your self-care, patterns and physical health.

There are blank spaces in the symptom-tracking section for you to write about your unique experiences, and you can replace symptoms like “bleeding” with your own. We believe it can still be useful for you as long as you feel comfortable and informed of its primary focus.

For those of you who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or trying to prevent pregnancy, this journal can help you track fertility and other symptoms you may be looking out for!

This journal is first & foremost a symptom-tracking + self-care guide, so it's perfect for anyone trying to prioritize their health & well-being no matter which cycles are present.

While it is completely up to each individual parents’ discretion what is too mature or not for their child, we generally say it’s for ages 15+ — but it totally depends on maturity and such, since age is a number. Cycles Journal is a dense, in-depth journal. Some 15-year-olds will thrive in this environment, and for others this may be overwhelming or too advanced. For the latter reason and considering that menarche can begin as young as 9, we also offer a simpler printable PDF version.

Yes. We honor the full spectrum of beautiful non-binary, transgender, gender-non conforming & queer people who bleed & have uteruses.

We do this through using inclusive language + imagery throughout the journal & our entire mission + brand.

We also honor that you do not need a womb or menstrual cycle to tune into this flow, wisdom & experience a cycle. We welcome everyone to explore our pages + use this tool so long as you are aware of the references to menstruation & estrogen-driven reproductive systems

Using the Journal & About

Yes of course! Some use it as their planner/calendar since it fully functions as such, and other use it alongside it. It’s a great companion to any tools you use, since it helps remind you to add your cycle to any calendars you use, and helps you plan your life with your cycle in mind!

I personally use the journal as my grounding off-screen tool to remind myself I'm not in work more, but in self-care mode. You can use it however suits your needs - but know it's multi-functional.

Cycles Journal is an annual dated publication because we want to provide you with all of the external influences and its information so you can focus on your inner influence and information.

If we made it undated, it would not have the lunar phases, astrological signs, eclipses, solstices, and so on. We believe this is vital information for comparison, pattern-tracking, and using these influences as guides for when your cycle is irregular and not present.

We also feature new content & wisdom in each yearly edition!

We discount our journal incrementally starting in April so that you can still obtain a journal + all of its wisdom later in each year (while supplies lasts).

We consider the environmental impact in all that we do. The creator Rachael Amber is an environmental activist & artist who considers nature & others in all that she creates.

This is why we chose to work with our printer since they had the best quality materials that also considered the environment. We do not mass produce, we choose ethical printers, FSC certified recycled paper, eco-friendly packaging. We also offer ideas on how to reuse, store or recycle the journal at the end of the year.

Yes, we have taken extra measures to make sure the paper is uncoated, recycled & high quality. It’s easy to write on with any writing implement. It's also thick enough so a pen or thin ink pen does not bleed through or smudge in regular writing.

Each year we launch the pre-orders in Summertime where you can get the best deals on the journal. It's the best way to make sure you have the journal to start each new year!

If the current edition is already out, you can order it in our shop on this website. We always order in 1 batch, so they're available while supplies lasts.

If you want to be sure to know about the journal ahead of time in future years so you can start tracking right when it begins, make sure to sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page so you never miss out!

Cycles Journal can be used no matter where you live. Its lunar phases are based in the Eastern US time zone (EST) of the northern hemisphere, but since we use lunar days and not times, it is still accurate for anyone around the world. Occasional & slight differences may occur such as the full moon appearing at night in one time zone, and the next morning in another - but generally it will always be on the same day.

Since we are an indie self-publishing journal that only prints one batch a year, we can’t make a separate journal right now for all timezones and hemispheres - but that’s why we use lunar days to keep it clean and accurate!

If you live in the southern hemisphere this journal is still useful because we write "solstice & equinox" without specifying which one, so you can be from either hemisphere.

The lunar illustrations will be accurate to the current phase of the moon - a first quarter moon will be the phase of the moon no matter where you are in the world. But visually we may see the moon differently depending on where we live - the southern hemisphere will the first quarter moon lit on the left while the northern hemisphere will see it on the right. It's a slight visual difference, but doesn't take away from the accuracy of the moon's phase it's in. We do mention this because it’s up to you if these slight differences matter to you or not.

Cycles Journal currently uses Tropical | Western astrology as it is the more commonly-practiced mode of astrology in the regions where majority of our community lives in. We wanted to focus on which system was most familiar first. However, we do want to acknowledge & honor the traditional origins and equally valuable practice & history of Sidereal | Vedic astrology. We hope that in the future we can offer more versions of Cycles Journal, with the option for either version so that we can provide for followers, teachers & students of either practice. As of now, we are a small self-publishing business, which limits our printing to 1 run a year.

Moon & Menstrual Cycle Questions

You are always in sync with the moon in your own unique way. Cycles Journal is about finding synchronicity and alignment within yourself & whatever phase(s) you align with - not with a specific moon phase.

Being in ‘sync’ with the lunar cycle does not mean that you need to bleed on the new moon or align in any certain way - it's more about being aware of what phase you align with naturally and tuning into what that feels like and means to you. It’s about working with your current alignments to follow that flow & create more ease through working with present energy in your life - and allowing shifts to come and go with your cycles. There is no right or wrong, but only a feeling of deeper connection and inner + outer knowing that occurs when we tune in.

Through this practice of meeting our bodies where we are at, we can discover what aligning with certain moon phases means for us individually, how we feel when we bleed on certain moon phases, and how the outer cycles impact our inner.

Cycles Journal will help you uncover patterns, changes & wisdom of your body. It can help you track all of your internal & external cycles so that you can then further your self-care and health with your own research & assistance from healthcare professionals.

This journal is not a replacement for medical diagnosis or visits to the doctors you usually attend - but it can be something you bring with you to those appointments. All information in this journal is written with care, research, good intention and experience; but this does not replace that you or your doctor may know what’s best for you.

We often think of our period as the only significant part of our menstrual cycle - but our period is just a small 3-6 day window of our whole menstrual cycle. To live in more flow & awareness of our body and its needs, it’s important to consider the entire cycle and follow what we feel throughout all phases of it. Just as the moon needs to grow to fullness in order to renew into a new cycle, we need to follow the ovulatory phase, the in-between follicular & luteal phases, and even the times when we’re not in a regular menstrual cycle and don’t know which phase we are in.

Throughout all phases, it’s important to track the experiences within your body, and the influences around you outside. Cycles Journal prompts you on a daily basis to record your moods, your physical symptoms, your energy levels, your nutrition, your body temperature, your exercise & more. It also notifies you of the lunar phase & astrological influence, and prompts you to record the weather, the season, and other external factors that could influence your mood, cycle & stress levels.

To live in more flow and sync we must look at our lives holistically so that we can get the full picture. When we zoom our and take note of all the parts of the whole, we can more easily pinpoint what we are lacking or overwhelming ourselves with, and come closer to giving ourselves what we truly need.

Everything! Following symptoms, cravings, desires, dreams, intentions, patterns, changes, energy levels, moods, inner & outer cycles... plan & prepare for your life based on what your body needs + when it needs it.

This is a space for reflection & understanding. There is so much wisdom your body holds no matter what cycles it experiences!

Even if your cycle is non-existent or irregular, your body still holds so much wisdom that can clue you into its needs. You don’t need to be bleeding to track your symptoms, moods & all the other important data your body tells you everyday! Tracking everything from what you eat, to what medicine you take, to what the weather outside is like can help you to uncover so much about yourself. Tracking & journaling about your cycle helps you to find your inner patterns even amidst irregular cycling.

Cycles Journal is a tool to guide you through keeping track of it all and helping you learn how to use the moon as a tracking point when your period is not prominent or consistent. You can follow all symptoms and tracking points within, and add your own things to follow. Self-care and personal health is important no matter what kind of cycle you have, and this space is dedicated to helping you prioritize it more in your life!

While hormonal birth control can prevent your bleed from flowing naturally, you can still tune into the energetic flow within and around you. it's all about tapping into the innate nature that your body & environment knows.

The moon is your guide - whether your cycle is irregular or non-existent, you can follow the steady pace of the lunar cycle each moonth. Getting into the habit of following the energy around you, while also recording your symptoms, emotions & experiences can help you tune into your body & connect deeper to the wisdom that always lives inside of you.

Cycles Journal guides you in creating this habit of self-care and devotion to your well-being.

Whatever your cycle is like - you are worthy of finding the power within it.

Cycles Journal will prime you as to how - that's a huge part of what it's for! It's all about knowing what your body needs & when it needs it. Since we're all unique, the only way to know this key knowledge is to follow + record your symptoms & patterns so you can understand yourself better.

From there, you will be prompted & guided into planning for each cycle & phase of your life so that you can know when you need more downtime or when you're full of energy. It's all about finding the flow and living with it.

In this journal we are working to create more than just a habit - we're creating a ritual of self-devotion. The more you use the journal and realize how much this helps, and how essential it is to slow down + tune in, the more you'll get into the routine naturally.

if you're looking for more practical tips to forming the habit & staying on top of it, we wrote a blog article about it!

It’s common in our busy world to feel like we don’t have the time, energy or means to give ourselves the rest and space we deserve during our bleed-time. It’s not our faults. If we learn to notice what our body needs, and follow the times our body needs these things, we can learn to better prepare for this time of nurturing.

Preparing for our cycles can be anything from planning a lighter workload, getting stressful things done ahead of time, packing nourishing foods for ourselves, remembering to pack helpful medicine or supplements, going to bed early, treating ourselves, etc.

When we slow down and listen, we can prepare and give our body what it needs. When we prepare, our bodies are less in shock when the time comes. Cycles Journal helps guide & prompt us to do so by following patterns, planning ahead in calendars, planners and apps, and setting reminders for ourselves and loved ones during times we may need more space or care.

Feeling overwhelmed, angry, saddened and hopeless by our pain is understandable - but giving ourselves the time and space to process these heavy emotions so that they can move through instead of keep us stuck is important.

When we sit with pain and give it our patience, we allow it the space to unfold and transform into something else.

We can also act on the pain - give ourselves remedies such as medicine, supplements, exercise, heat pads, movement, stretching, rest, and nourishing foods.

When we hate our bodies for being in pain, we add to the tension. When we pause and understand that pain is simply our body’s way of trying to communicate to us that it needs something, we learn to meet it instead of resist it. Next time you feel pain or discomfort, try sitting and listening or taking action.

The mission of Cycles Journal revolves around learning to accept our bodies for the amazing, sacred spaces they are. While we may not jump from self-loathing into self-loving overnight, Cycles Journal helps support & guide us in honoring the process of giving ourselves care, space and respect to understand our body. The journey of cycle awareness slowly helps us transform into the best, empowered version of ourselves through knowing our own patterns, which brings us closer to being a unified whole instead of a mind at war with a body.

There are so many natural remedies & tips that we go over in our blog post here! We also have information scattered through each journal to help you as you go.

One of the biggest things is preparing, giving yourself space & rest, and knowing what you body wants + doesn't want when it's about to bleed.

We have a facebook community group that is free & welcome to all! You can connect here with others on the same healing journey + find resources and more.
